Best answer 0 votes 0 votes Error detection is done by layer 2 i.e data link layer layer whereas these errors are corrected by transport layer by requesting retransmission. It checks whether data is corrupted or not. Now there is a need for the system to make sure that whether the packets are arriving or not. This is called end to end error control and is the responsibility of transport layer.Transport layer couldn't care less whether the data in the payload is good or bad. That's Data link's job. Transport only cares if it is getting every packet that it is supposed to, and whether or not there are arriving in the right order. And if it is not so then retransmission is used by it. 1 votes 1 votes Please log in or register to add a comment.
