The critical fusion frequency is the number of flashes per second at which a flashing light is perceived as being continuous — for humans this is usually greater than 10 flashes per second (10 Hz), which is why normal house lighting (running at 50 or 60 Hz) or TV and films (running at around 25 frames per second) look continuous.
