Can you elaborate it more? Can't understand.

What is meant by simple lock and key memory protection arrangement ?

Is it bcz if I/O processors  do not have address translation h/w it might try to access OS part and corrupt it?

More Information needed.

simple lock and key memory protection arrangement

whts the relationship between these two?

I presume that in the absence of address mapping hardware for the I/O processors, (Memory Mapped I/O) 2 processes writing to the same page concurrently require a lock based protection scheme since paging alone cannot prevent the overwriting from happening.
