Gigabit Ethernet : Bandwidth(B)=1Gbps  , Length of cable =d

Standard Ethernet : Bandwidth(B)=10Mbps , length of cable =2000

Lets take frame size =L and velocity = v

Gigabit Ethernet:

L = 2 * d/v   * B  -----------------------------(A)

Standard Ethernet :

L = 2 * 2000/v   * B  -----------------------------(B)

 

compare A and B..

2 * d/v * 1Gbps = 2 * 2000/v * 10Mbps

d=20 Unit
