You really think people from those colleges will stay in India and do research even if you pay 80000? VERY few. Those who have a very bad economic background will. And also those who couldn't get in any PhD program abroad or got placed. Only those will be opting for this. Fair enough. Will this enhance research industry? No. If they think tier 3 colleges are so bad, and the students are not capable of research, why aren't they given a chance to prove otherwise. If they are actually in fact not capable, they won't be selected. I'll never understand the selection criteria in most comany and institutions. Surajit commented Feb 27, 2018 Like reply Follow Share I was about to comment the exact same thing...:D..none will stay here.....Passionate people from even tier 3 colleges have also landed in some good universities in abroad and have done good research, even absorbed in industries....Research condition in India is extremely poor and half of the universities other than some top ones offering Phd in India hardly have any collaboration with real industry problems....even GATE scholarships are a joke...mere 8k,even a worker in Bpo gets more.. hungrysoul554 commented Feb 27, 2018 Like reply Follow Share Sadly this is how it works in our country , everyone says college does not effect your life or your cgpa does not effect your life . But truth is that they both matter more than your knowledge in our country . I have a mentor who told that even after getting gate 2 nd rank in cse , he was not even called for interview in top product based company . Truth is that most product based companies filter your resumes based on your college . If you are not from iit/iiit your resume is not even seen , but the worst case is they don't even reply that you are rejected . Sad to hear , but truth . Sunny Mukherjee commented Mar 1, 2018 Like reply Follow Share @hungrysoul554 I did not understand what did u try to say? the person ranked 2nd in GATE CSE and then he must be in IISC Bangalore or IIT Bombay, still during campusing he was not called for an interview by TOP product companies? How can this happen? Surajit commented Mar 1, 2018 Like reply Follow Share People filter with btech from IIT and mba from IIM....I know some companies who exactly does this, there is a separate section in naukri website "IIT/IIM" jobs.. hungrysoul554 commented Mar 1, 2018 Like reply Follow Share @sunny i mean to say after his btech he got air 2 and applied for interviews , but he did not get calls then later he joined into iit Sunny Mukherjee commented Mar 1, 2018 Like reply Follow Share ok :-) gauravkc commented Mar 1, 2018 Like reply Follow Share (As far as I know) Companies cannot afford training new employees often. People who give gate/cat are not preferred by companies as it indicates they are interested in further studies and they might leave the company to pursue further education or get into PSUs. Quite obvious why companies won't hire him and not just because he is from tier 3 college :) Though yes they filter according to college as they probably don't have a choice.
