Question

Since Facebook has launched a new feature “Units” we will be using it for providing Admission guidance this time. The advantage of Facebook group for admissions is that we can easily ping any senior there. Also “Units” provide a nice organization. You can start off by seeing the previous year cutoffs.

why is the Facebook group closed, sir? Not only for posting, one can't even read the posts. Can't it be made like GO website, where warning says only posting rights will be restricted to verified users.

Most of the FB groups are closed. The main reason is Facebook is a social media and someone from say IIT doesn't want his friends or relatives to know that he is posting about GATE. Also they don't prefer the posts coming in their activity. That is why most active groups in FB are closed.

Also what is the problem in joining?

Sir, many of us have left facebook due to increasing privacy concerns and the overall decline in the quality of the content posted there. And I have no plan to join it again. Would be really helpful if admission guidance was also simultaneously provided here on GO.
