This is what I found on digging more. In GATE 2015, number of candidates appeared = 115425 In GATE 2016, number of candidates appeared = 131803 In GATE 2017, number of candidates appeared = 108495 In GATE 2018, number of candidates appeared = 107893 Indeed, the no of students giving GATE has fallen YOY. I think people are more inclined to do an MS or an MBA now. ankush98 commented Mar 22, 2020 i edited by ankush98 Mar 22, 2020 Like 1 reply Follow Share I don't think @imShreyas that more people are inclined towards MS or an MBA is the reason why the number of students has reduced for the gate. Please do not spread rumors. Opportunities from the gate are increasing every year (PSU seats have increased this year, MTech placements have increased especially in CS-old IITs/IISC have nearly 20lpa package on average ), I think this is the deciding factor not the number of candidates appearing. akshay7797 commented Mar 22, 2020 Like 2 reply Follow Share imShreyas i think it might be because many cs students get placed in service based companies after B. Tech and they be satisfied with that Please log in or register to add a comment.
