Z-score Probability Calculation

Question

Pr( Z > 0 ) = ??

How to calculate it? 

Ans is 0.5. 

Do we use standard normal variate(Z) table? Do GATE provide such table?

you should know this $P(z\geq0)=P(z<0)=0.5$

it can also be calculated, but it is outside the scope of syllabus, because it will require the knowledge of Laplacian integral, and some more transforms.

For what values of a

i)  P( Z >= a ) = P( Z < a ) = 0

ii) P( Z >= a ) = P( Z < a ) = 1

there doesn't exist any real value of 'a' for which, the cases (i) and (ii) are possible.

In this Question asked about the value of z .. we can calculate the value of z using the area method...

if the value of z is greater than zero then the value of z will be 0.5 and the value of z is less than zero than the value 0.5 also
