GATE CSE 2008 | Question: 71,72,73 in this question how the 32 bit virtual address can be used in finding the mapping in cache i.e the tags blocks etc........should we not first covert it into physical address ?????/

That depends on where the cache is. A cache can be either virtually indexed or physically indexed. If it is physically indexed, a cache can be accessed only after address translation. But for virtually indexed ones, we don't need this. The "tag" can also be either physical or virtual.

Virtually indexed, physically tagged cache is the norm today.
