page size

Question

For disks..it is much faster to transfer one large page of data than two or more smaller pages containing the same amount of data.

But transfer time should be proportional to page size..

Please explain!!

When transferring pages , the time to put rotational head to R/W is seek time ,

if large pages is there which is sequential.Once Rotational head is put on the disk ,can read entire sequential pages.

But if small pages are present time taken is more as we need to correctly position R/w head for one each small pages.

It is like Once you got to market you should buy all the things at a time.

rather than buying one item each time as this wastes time.

There would not be any effect of transfer rate?

Transfer rate for large pages is small when compared with small pages for same amount of data.
