What is counting method for free space management ?

In counting method each entry consit of first free block n then no of contiguous block which are free after it So we have 3 free blocks here(i m assuming address start from o) Address count 1. 4 2 2. 8 0 3. 9 2

Can you please elaborate on this by providing a simpler example?

I understood this part from the dinosaur book.

"we can keep the address of the first free block and the number (n) of free contiguous blocks that follow the first block. Each entry in the free-space list then consists of a disk address and
a count."

i don't know what counting method is . what i think they are trying to ask if we use counting then what will be the counts ( note the "S")

which means it will more then one . so which means they are going to represent the holes as one number only so it may be 4,1,2. what is the answer
