Parent process has already begun execution and hence can not be in created (new) state

Running state is the state of a process while running. But a process just forked can't start running until the child process is created and its pid returned to it. Till then it'll be in READY state.

Zombie state is a state of a process when the process has terminated but it's id is still in the process table (for parent to check its exit status)
