MIME stands for Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension . It is a application layer protocol .It is also called as NON-TEXT protocol .So , if we want to send a video file to our mail then MIME is used .

By default SMTP support only Text based  Message.

for sending multimedia we use MIME extension (Multi Purpose  internet mail extensions )

and SMTP is a Protocol of Application Layer (Answer D)
