Can split horizon alone prevent count to infinity problem or we must use poison reverse with split horizon ?

I do not know what is poison reverse. But the classic disadvantage of Distance Vector Routing is the count to infinity problem which can be solved using Split Horizon.

Certainly split horizon alone can prevent looping problems but it has it's own disadvantages so we prefer to use it with poison reverse in which we send back(reverse) the entry of poisoned route to the interface from where that route information originally came...

it prevent  from count to infinity problem but  it  split horizon with poison reverse makes the router alive in the network by placing its distance as infinity.
