GATE 2018

Question

Hello seniors,

I am a final year student in CS from a state level university in WB. GATE 2018 was my first attempt. But I got only 10.67 marks. I am dejected about my results. Did plenty of silly mistakes in 2 mark questions. Though I have to join the MNC offer I have with me, I genuinely want to pursue M.Tech from good IIT's or NIT next year. This year according to me I prepared pretty well, followed GO regularly, solved prev year questions, but the problem was I didn't give enough mock tests and also my preparations were delayed due to college exams, project, placements etc. But I know that these can be just excuses and I have to work very hard now. I know it's not impossible but the road seems to be more tough now. Need some thoughts from toppers.

Also this is not a success story but still I would like to thank veterans such as Arjun sir, Sachin sir, Debashish sir and few others who are constantly helping thousands of aspirants like me.

I am not a topper. Gate will always give you new questions. Concept remains same but very rare gate questions repeat.Test series contains modifications of existing gate questions as per my experience. So I don't think test series has any major role to play here. The key fact is to solve all the gate questions on your own without looking at answers. And still time permits do same with text book. If you have got less marks then it is because you have not solved gate questions or on your own or have not solved all gate questions of all subjects.Not giving test series is not the reason for less marks. Revision in last months is also the key.
