1. Suppose X is a uniform random variable between 0.50 and 1.00. What is the probability that a randomly selected value of X is between 0.55 and 0.60 or between 0.75 and 0.85?

Look here the region from 0.5 to 1.00 is the sample space and the region in between 0.05 and 0.60 or the region in between 0.75 and 0.85 is our favourable event space.

So, the length of the sample space is (1.00 - 0.50) = 0.50

and the lengths of the favourable event space is (0.85 - 0.75) + (0.60 - 0.55) = 0.15

So, our required probability is 0.15/0.50 = 0.30.

Thus option D is correct
