In a baseband communication link, frequencies upto $3500 \; \text{Hz}$ are used for signaling. Using a raised cosine pulse with $75 \%$ excess bandwidth and for no inter symbol interference, the maximum possible signaling rate is symbols $\text{per sec}$ is:

  1. $1750$
  2. $2625$
  3. $4000$
  4. $5250$

C. 4000 …

BT = 0.5 Rs (β + 1) ...

Rs → Symbol rate ...

Rs = (2 × βT) / (β + 1) …

Calculations:

β = 0.75 ...

Rs = (2 × 3500 ) / (0.75 + 1)

= 4000 symbols/sec …
