I am currently in my 3rd year (6th sem) doing B.Tech in Computer Science from a tier 3 college. So far, no one from my batch has gotten an internship from our college (explaining the market situation) . However, I am a specialist on Codeforces and decent in DSA. I have also had interviews with Microsoft and PayPal, but unfortunately, I was ghosted in both after two rounds of interviews.
Recently, I have received an offer for a backend internship at Airtel, but the pay is quite low (only 10k per month), and it's WFO from Gurugram(3hrs of travel to and fro). On the other hand, I have a decent sitting capacity for studying and was thinking of appearing for GATE. If I dedicate 7-8 months of preparation, I am confident that I can crack at least the top 500 rank.
Considering the current market scenario, I am confused about what to do. Should I take the low-paying internship at Airtel or focus on cracking GATE? Any advice would be appreciated.
