If suppose I have two entities in ER model participating in 1:Many relationship and I want to model this into relational model then how many tables will I need for them to be in 3NF?

I know that 2 tables will suffice, but if we have 3 tables (2 base entity tables with default columns and another table representing the relationship), the 3NF would still be preserved because they key does not change and we are only deleting the null FK rows + some attributes which have no effect on 3NF (I don't think deleting non-prime columns will have any effect on 3NF)

Can someone please confirm if having 3 tables also preserve 3rd normal form?
