0 0 votes A process is in New State when it is newly created. When a new process is created it's physically stored on Secondary memory. So a process in New State is present in Secondary memory. A process in ready state when it is loaded into primary primary and is either waiting for I/0 or it can be excuted by prempting a process which is running state. So a.out which is resided on Secondary memory is in New State. And when we ran it runs through other states of a state. Correct me if iam wrong. Hope it helps. Unless and untill i dont run "a.out" it wont be any use.It will stay in secondary memory forever. Or lets take the example of a python program which does not give a file like "a.out" then what will "example.py" program be?( a new process?) 0 0 replyShare AnilGoudar commented Apr 28, 2017 reply Follow flag a.out is an object code which is generated from *.c file. Yes unless loader loads a.out, it will be in secondary memory forever. Once loader picks up a new process, the process will transit to "Ready State". 0 0 replyShare Arjun commented Apr 28, 2017 reply Follow flag Yes, but "a.out" or any executable is an object file which can be run (not all object files are executable) - not a process. A process is a program in execution. 0 0 replyShare AnilGoudar commented Apr 28, 2017 reply Follow flag Yes sir, a.out is not considered as process unless it is ran.. Is my understanding correct?? a.out once started executing , it became new process and said to be in "new" state fetched from secondary memory. It will be in ready state once loaded to main memory.. 0 0 replyShare Please log in or register to add a comment.
