Question

when we say that a process is waiting in the ready state,what actually waits in ready state on behalf of the process???

The process waits in the ready queue(in main memory) for the short term scheduler to select it and send it to the CPU for execution.

i am asking whether  the code of the process waits  or the PCB corresponding to it?????

Okay.
The ready queue is actually implemented using linked list which maintains pointer to each of the PCBs. The header points to the PCB of the first process that is about to go to the cpu.  The PCBs reside in the MM.
