MiNiPanda 0 votes 0 votes MiNiPanda commented Sep 30, 2018 reply Follow Share How? :( What is the identity element here @Mk Utkarsh? Isn't it 0? So all the subgroups should have 0 as one of their element. And since 0 is the inverse of itself (since identity element is inverse of itself) then the 2nd element is also inverse of itself because it can't be the inverse of 0. So (a*a-1)=e i.e. (a*a)=e => (a+a)%24 =e where e=0 and a-1=a. But if i take subgroup (0,2) then 2 is not the inverse of 2 because (2+2)%24 is not 0. I got 11 subgroups of cardinality 3 and 1 subgroup of cardinality 2. (0,1,23), (0,2,22)....(0,11,13) and (0,12). Please help. 0 votes 0 votes Mk Utkarsh commented Sep 30, 2018 reply Follow Share oh yes my bad i didn't checked the inverse :( 0 votes 0 votes Please log in or register to add a comment.
