Hello Everyone! I am Viral, Currently in the First year MTech CS at IIITH, last year around this time only I was done with GATE and I knew I haven't performed upto my expectations.
So If you are like me at this stage after GATE-2025, Chill! First of all, Don't overthink , Give yourself a little bit of time and START AGAIN!
START EARLY
- The Main Mistake aspirants do If they haven't performed well in GATE is, They waste a lot of time in Overthinking, Feeling Bad , Crying etc.
- So Without wasting the time in the thing that is already happened, better move on by believing This is not end of the world and Start Grinding for Future Opportunities such as IIITH , BITS , MS(RA) of IITs , IITH Self Sponsered and RA Modes , IIITD , ISI and etc.
- Majority of my friends last year have utilised the above Listed Opportunities and Got into one of the programs and currently are in very good place, so Don't underestimate this time.
Resources (Specific to PGEE)
- Generally PGEE is known for its tougher Aptitude but last year they changed the pattern, and Tech was trickier (not "tough") than Apti, So first of all Don't get distracted by Youtube Videos and Prepare EVERY portion of the syllabus well , as they can set the paper upto their desire.
- For Aptitude I followed : RS Agrawal (L-1, L-2) , Indiabix , All Pyqs related to Apti from All branches of GATE
- and For Tech, I revised all the PYQs of GATE (Again Don't stick to 1 mark Pyqs only) & Do each of the PYQ.
- For Mocks, I Believe GO will releast TS for PGEE specific as of last year, So attempt it for the practice too.
PGEE-2024 Overview
- Firstly there was Aptitude of 40 marks containing Most of the Aptitude topics and also Paragraph based questions of English (Do prepare it well, ~10 marks questions from Aptitude from this portion)
- Then there was Technical Section with Surprise!
- We had 3 Sections In Technical : Systems(OS, CN & DLD) , DSA & Eng. Maths (Yes, Prepare the extra topics of Maths also that are listed here : https://pgadmissions.iiit.ac.in/monsoon_syllabus/, We had around 10 questions from topics contained in it).
- It was more trickier than Aptitude.
- Negative Marking was there of -0.25 , Many People Whom I remember who attempted Large number of questions got lesser marks due to it, so take well care of this too.
So Don't worry too much, Be proud on yourself that you've atleast put your all efforts without thinking of result and Start Preparing for Further Opportunities, and People who are very obsessed with "IIT", Here at IIITH, you would not miss anything that's in IIT But not in here, More you'll get to know about it while surviving with academics here ;)
So take a chill for a week , and start again with positive and fresh mindset and Do everything possible such that before going to the Exam you get a feel that, You couldn't have done more efforts in any case than You have already done, It's the first step to crack any Exam!
