Hi, all, toppers of this year, congratulations to you for your success.

Now, many of you have got good ranks which is enough to get a TA position in top IITs. Some some of you may have to face RA interviews.

In most of the IITs, the autumn semester starts from July. Considering that, you have ample amount of time to learn something relevant to the topics that you are willing to pursue in IITs. This would help you to decide your area of interest ( for your master thesis and seminar and all ).

There is a Moodle site called "go-classroom" ( http://classroom.gateoverflow.in) initiated by Arjun Suresh Sir last year. You may join the M.Tech section to get updates related to M.Tech courses, relevant lecture, assignments, useful links, and many more useful stuff.

The section is not updated yet, but it will be updated soon.

I am not able to log in to GO-classroom. It says "Invalid login, please try again" when I enter the username and password of this account.

Can someone help?

The password for that site is not the same as GO site. You should have got the new password via email - if not please try Forgot Password with your GO username.

Anyone preparing for the IISc written test?

What are you studying? I've no idea.

I've no clue either... I'm still waiting for COAP to begin allowing registrations, and hoping those who attended previous year placements to shed some light on the process.

The process is far more nuanced that I thought it would be, it seems colleges have the liberty to set their admission standards. Everyone has a different criteria, some conduct interviews and others don't, some uses GATE score as wells as CGPA while others use it as a cutoff for the interview.

This does cover some of the processes/criterias related to admission: Made Easy

I now feel GATE exam was the easiest part...

@Kanwae Kan for interviews do we have to study beyond GATE?

It depends I think, my goal is to join neuroscience for which my score is more that sufficient enough for getting into the interview round, since not a lot of people prefer switching their major and venture into the unknown.

In a highly competitive field it doesn't hurt to boost your chances by stepping beyond conventional boundaries, I mean you could subtly brag about knowing something which the interviewer himself has a struggle or doesn't expect you to know a lot of. Anecdotally speaking we're all prone to biases even in a well scripted conversation, the interviewer might've a set of standard criteria to evaluate you nonetheless he might discount you if you make a silly mistakes or help you if the problem is too hard.

This is what I inferred from looking up some of the past interview experiences, feel free to disagree or even agree 😲...

Kanwae kan, which IIT is offering neuroscience program? Are CSE people eligible for it?

IISC offers neuroscience, and it's a PHD course. All gate applicants are eligible to apply if they cross the score-barrier.

That said, you'd have to evaluate your option and not go in blindly. I'd been flirting with idea for too long, and have a bit of insight into what and how things work in the field, read some books on that subject, and experienced traumas which I wish I didn't. I don't mean this to discourage you, and I can't do even if I wanted to. I just want you to-be aware of the implications of choosing foreign course and don't go in blindly or be compelled like me when chose I CSE for institute's or course's reputation's sake.

Gate wasn't really my main plan anyway, it was a fluke shot, I'd work my ***-off but not to the levels like others did. I've 7 arrears currently probably had more than 15 in total.
