As you all might be aware the next exam after GATE is JEST. I am aware many will be answering and they have a sample set of questions which do not have solutions.Hoping that the community solves all these questions thereby helping the aspirants in making us more aware of the type of approaches to solve the same question.My reason to add these questions was that there are no solution to these sample questions anyone going through these questions might wonder if his/her answer’s are correct.

I personally found the sample questions tougher than even Gate Questions.

For those who do not no much about this exam here is some information.

Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) is a preliminary screening test conducted jointly by several premier research institutes. Among these institutes, The Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai is the only one that offers a Ph.D. programme in Theoretical Computer Science.

The JEST screening test for entrance to the PhD programme in theoretical computer science will be held typically on a Sunday in the middle of February every year.

The test focusses on the following areas:

Analytical Reasoning and Deduction, Combinatorics, Data Structures and Algorithms, Discrete Mathematics, Graph Theory, Principles of Programming.

In each of these areas, familiarity with the basics (including the necessary simple mathematics) is assumed. There are questions of both types – some requiring short answers as well as some involving detailed problem solving. A sample questionnaire is attached.

We are requiring some developers to get the following plugins to use on GATE Overflow. The required skillset is PHP and familiarity with Q2A code base – which is mostly PHP. The code structure is pretty easy even for a naive developer to work with.

Some of the required plugins:

1. Edit and Review – currently only Editors and above can edit a post and edits are final with roll back option. We need a way for anyone to suggest edits and edits become final only when the owner or Moderators approve them. Price 50-100$ 
2. Spam Regulator – We need a proper plugin to minimize spams. This is a current open source one https://github.com/q2apro/q2apro-stop-spam. New features required
   1. Auto identification of spam user accounts and spam posts – Require Filter module of Q2A. Then also requires Report Spam option so that the spam detection module gets trained automatically similar to Email Spams
   2. Option to list potential spam accounts already existing and a neat way to remove them
   3. Price 100$. 
3. Fixing Q2A Network of Sites Plugin – This is an outdated plugin for running a network of Q2A sites. https://github.com/NoahY/q2a-network. We mainly need an option to move questions across the network of sites and fix any error issues. Price 40$.

Since Facebook has launched a new feature “Units” we will be using it for providing Admission guidance this time. My personal guess is ~70 marks should get an Interview call but might be wrong. 

Please note that the exam application form for UGC NET Dec 2018 is available from 1st Sept,2018- 1st Oct,2018. The following changes are to be noted as regards the exam pattern is concerned. 

1)Earlier, the said examination was conducted by CBSE but NTA(National Testing Agency) will conduct it. 

2)For the first time the mode of the exam will be online though the pattern remains the same which was followed for UGC NET July Exam.
